SUMMER VIOLIN INTENSIVE
June 17-21, 2024
The European Academy of Arts presents a summer violin intensive workshop, led by Gersh Chervinskiy, a graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music and of the Yale School of Music. This program is one-week long (Monday - Friday) and will consist of two daily group classes:
Violin technique workshop (11 am - 1 pm) - during this class students shall focus on improving their playing technique, and practice an etude/caprice. They will be expected to play the piece at the juried recital on Friday, the last day of the workshop, and shall receive evaluations from the jury.
Music theory and literacy class (1:30 pm - 2:30 pm) - this class is designed to significantly advance student’s violin playing, sight reading, understanding of different styles, as well as to increase the memorization skills.
This course covers issues, such as:
How to unlock all scales in a simple unified way?
How to measure distances between different notes?
How to hear a piece of music without playing it on an instrument (emotional intelligence)
How to optimize memorization? (increases memory in every subject!)
How to compose a catchy song, and many other questions
We will be studying the structures of music:
Major Scale and modifications
Minor Scale and modifications
Intervals, simple and compound
Note values and time signatures
Tonic triad and its inversions
Dominant triad and its inversions
Most commonly used music terminology
